Hi everyone 👋 So my writing day today was mostly still in Rebel Mode I guess, with a little freewriting thrown in, included working on turning some older writing from a few years ago into a new essay with a better, more conscious shape that I can share with you. I think it would probably be classified as a lyric essay, since we're talking and thinking about essay types today. I also got inspired to start to write something new that could turn into an essay, or at least something I'd share here on Substack. I had meant to work on my book but alas, other things got in the way. So that was Day 4 for me! Tinkering with existing material, freewriting something new, and of course editing the post for tomorrow :)

After a longish day, I felt sleepy, but I was able to jot down a quick Five Things. Now I’ll be reading a few essays. Thanks again, Summer, for creating this space for us.

Well done! Being tired and doing it anyway is hard but so great when you can manage even a little 💪

This is the best explanation of what an essay is that I've ever read. Thank you!

i did Five Things About Writing A Memoir About the Age-gap love affair I had as a Teen during hte age of Jeffrey Epstein. something my therapist suggested I write about that fit with today's assignment. I will eventually write an essay with this but I will let this one in particular sit for a minute. I have an older Five Things Abouut Chocolate Cake that I've been meaning to work on so I will do that today. Your essay about Mary Oliver was lovely and the circular structure struck me as very effective.

Forgot to comment yesterday but I did write for a fourth day. For the short time the baby slept alone in her crib, while dinner was in the oven. This way of working in very short spurts is actually good for me. I don’t have time to second guess myself or edit over my own shoulder. We’ll see how it translates to actually finishing work but it’s a good way to generate.

Was playing with this

The Jewel heist in Paris caught Denise’s attention. She said it was a “Paris heist” like the “Italian Job” film , 2003 Action/crime featuring brilliant line, Mark Wahlberg as Charlie Croker, Jason Statham as Handsome, Edward Norton as Steven, Donald Sutherland, as the master mind behind the heist, and his daughter Charlize Theron as Sella Bridge whom they orchestrated the craft of this callable of a heist like Master craftsmen. I loved the picture and don’t know who didn’t at least like it as the one the best 2003. I was sitting up in the bedroom after I had breakfast she prepared. She pushed the door open, clapped her feet together, and circled the room, her side of the bed almost like she was animated but such a heist after the "Italian Job.”

I could hear slightly the the television broadcast the briefing. Like “Italian Job” Denise said and the reporters were casting the heist as though was some copy cat movie adventure like the episode. She looked as though she had left her tea cup on the end table. I hung my head over the right side of the bed where she slept in the womb of a fetus.

she left out and I notice that she started getting call from I had imagine the call center or where she had placed her application for work. Another call rang but she didn’t talk long in fact I could hear nothing pass over the room. I guess she was waiting for a call.

Another one just came through and I could hear a woman say something as to a possible job, or be put on hold. The way you go when you want to find a job you have to do the work and step back and let God find the job as you have given the inflation as so they can call you went the fish shows up the fisher woman will grab.

This morning she got so hot because the heat was raised to toweling levels. I felt it when I went to the guess toilet outside of my study and along the side of the kitchen.

Finally, she just got another male call her and he seemed to offer a Lab Corp job which Denise said she was disappointed with this job since they never followed up when they were interviewing her by virtual.

The male job associate called from the job caller center seemed lenient, more helpful with her. She seem like she gave him more time on the phone than anyone this morning. I certainly understand the way to lick it is with the motivation and resilience in survival mode.

Looks like the job had a job offer for Denise where she would have to be out twelve hours.

“That’s twelve hours,” she spoke through the phone. funny thing she did not come to tell me about it. I probably would said go for it. You never know what kind of job this would provide and perhaps honor in the future of mining your work.

When we step out of position where opportunity maybe calling, we can miss God divine call of Grace.

Today was a busy day, and I was making some big typos at first. Then, as I wrote, it seemed like the words were becoming clearer and easier in my mind. I have found the Five Things structure so helpful these past few days, I really plan to continue using it after Camp!

Your explanation of essay forms is so clear and interesting. Thank you, Summer!

I'm relatively new to this writing thing so learning about the different styles of essays was a revelation. Once again, I completed the 5 Things exercise and read a handful of the suggested essays. Loving Essay Camp!!
